Commonly Debated / Harmful

Hasbian: someone who previously identified as a lesbian, but now identifies as straight/bi/etc; a 'former' lesbian - has been used to refer to trans men and often perpetuates negativity around self-discovery

Gold star lesbian: a lesbian who's never had sex with a man - often debated due to the glorification of not sleeping with men as a lesbian and the radfem ideology behind it

Girl crush: a straight non-man⋆ who finds a non-man attractive (typically a celebrity) but isn't actually sexually or romantically attracted to them - can be used similarly to the classic 'no homo' and may have homophobic connotations

Saysbian: someone who says that they're a lesbian, bisexual, or otherwise sapphic, but is really only with men - can be invalidating, especially towards bisexual people with a preference for men

Sexual

Pillow princess: someone (usually in a sapphic or lesbian relationship) who prefers to recieve rather than provide pleasure in the bedroom

Spaghetti girl / noodle: a curious straight non-man⋆ who is 'straight until they are wet' / straight until sexually turned on

Clitference: the 'lesbian version of cockblocking'; when someone gets in the way of a lesbian experience with someone you're interested in

⋆ = non-man, or otherwise someone who would fit the definition of lesbian if they were attracted to women (because some lesbians identify as men too)

Comphet: compulsory heterosexuality, the experience of being subconsciously forced to be attracted to men or more attracted to men, as if non-men's⋆ heterosexuality is compulsory in society

100-footer: a lesbian who can be recognised as a lesbian from 100 feet away - can perpetuate lesbian stereotypes but it's more often used lightheartedly/jokingly

Uhauling: the stereotype of a lesbian moving in with their partner on the first date

O.W.L: 'older wiser lesbian'

Baby d-ke: a lesbian who's fresh out of the closet, usually deemed as being innocent and young

Double homo / D-kealike / Doppelbanger (y): a lesbian couple (or hookup) who look alike / like the same person; they may often get confused for siblings

Lesbro: a (usually straight) man who hangs out with lesbians in a friendly way; a male friend/companion of a lesbian

Celesbian / Dykon: a famous or celebrity lesbian/d-ke (y)

Urge to merge: the stereotypical tendency for lesbians / sapphic people in a relationship to become the same person

Beersexual: someone who'll only engage in lesbian activities when under the influence of alcohol

L.P: 'lesbian potential', someone who has LP is someone who has the potential to be a lesbian or sapphic

Lesbian Alongside other Orientations

Bambi Lesbian: a lesbian who prefers non-sexual acts such as cuddles, kisses, over sexual acts; common amongst ace-spec or asexual lesbians but can be used by anyone

Lunian (Mspec Lesbian): lesbians who are also mspec / multisexual. This is most often in the form of bi-, pan-, omni-, and poly- lesbians. They typically either use the split attraction model, and/or view lesbian as being non-exclusive due to its history before lesbian separatism. I'm confused

Lesbiflexible: a lesbian subset of homoflexible where someone is primarily lesbian but experiences flexibility in their attraction

Straightbian / Straytbian: someone who identifies as both straight / strayt (straight in a uniquely non-binary way), and a lesbian. This is usually due to being multigender, abrosexual/fluid between straight/strayt and lesbian, using the split attraction model, or otherwise experiencing both straight/strayt and lesbian attraction. I'm confused

Gaybian / Lesbigay: someone who identifies as both gay (vincian/veldian) and lesbian; someone who experiences queer attraction to both non-women and non-men, typically due to being multigender, genderfluid, non-binary, or otherwise

Gaibian: someone who identifies as both lesbian and gai; someone who identifies as lesbian in a uniquely non-binary way

Aphrodite Lesbian: a lesbian who has a more sexual nature, possibly due to being hypersexual, arospec and allosexual, or preferring sexual activities to non-sexual activities

Asexual homoromantic (wlw/nblw) / Asexual lesbian: a lesbian who is also asexual, meaning they experience little to no sexual attraction

Homosexual (wlw/nblw) aromantic / Aromantic lesbian: a lesbian who is also aromantic, meaning they experience little to no romantic attraction

Harmful/Exclusionary

Quasilesbian / Quasisapphic / Quasihimesexual / Yurisexual: a term used to describe (typically conformant) men who are only attracted to lesbian and/or sapphic women. This is considered a form of fetishization

Super Lesbian: the term describes exclusive attraction to cisgender women, which is inherently transphobic as it insinuates a lesbian who likes trans women is less of a lesbian, and that trans women are less of women; it is also not needed to label biological preferences with a sexual orientation as they aren't one in the same

Non-binary lesbian: a lesbian who is non-binary. Includes multigender, agender, demigirl, genderqueer, genderfluid, and any identity on the non-binary spectrum. I'm confused

Gyneurnimasculine: a sapphic person who is transitioning towards masculinity as part of their identity or gender expression without identifying as male in any way. They may also identify as butch

Lesboi / Saphboi: a black-exclusive variant of the term above, it was coined beforehand and gyneurnimasculine was coined as a non-exclusive alternative

Lesboy / Male lesbian / Lesbian man: a lesbian who also identifies as/with the term boy, man, and/or male; a boy/man who's attraction to women is queer. Often used by masculine non-binary lesbians, multigender/genderfluid lesbians, azurgirls, transmasculine or FtM non-men, butches, trans men with a connection to the lesbian label, and so on. Not every lesbian fits 'non-man'. I'm confused, 2, 3

Saphboy / Sapphboy / Sapphic boy: someone who identifies as/with the term boy who experiences both their gender and attraction as sapphic.

Cis lesboy / Cis male lesbian / Cis lesbian man: lesbians who also in some way identify as or partially as a cis man/boy. The term includes AFAB cis men, demicisgender men, non-binary people who also identify as cis men, those who are cusper between GNC cis man and trans woman, cisgenderless / cassgender / apagender men, intersex cis men, etc

Lesbian and Gender Presentation / Expression

Gender non-conforming lesbian: a lesbian who is gender non-conforming / GNC, meaning their gender presentation doesn't reflect their actual gender, often used by butches

Pronoun non-conforming lesbian: a lesbian who's pronoun non-conforming / PNC, meaning they use pronouns that don't align with their gender, or in a non-standard way. I'm confused

Butch: a term with multiple subterms for lesbians or otherwise sapphic people with a masculine gender presentation, synonyms include diesel dyke, bulldyke (black-exclusive), bulldagger, and dyke

Femme: a term with multiple subterms for lesbians or otherwise sapphic people with a feminine gender presentation; synonyms include lipstick lesbian and designer dyke

Futch: a term for lesbians or otherwise sapphic people with a mix of both masculine / butch and feminine / femme traits, synonyms include chapstick lesbian

Ursula: a sapphic bear / a bear-like sapphic, typically describes plus-size protective or motherly, possibly hairy sapphics

Futchfluid: a futch person who's fluid between masculine, feminine, and androgynous presentations

Butch/Femme Subterms

Stud: a black-exclusive variant of butch which may include influences from urban and hip-hop cultures or fashion

Soft butch: a butch who is softer in their demeanour or behaviour, or is an overall softer individual

Butchwink / Butch twink: a (typically) non-binary person who is both butch and twink, it can refer to gender, gender expression and/or orientation (eg. having connections to androgyny, identifying with both achillean and sapphic labels/culture etc)

Stone butch: a butch who does not like being sexually touched by their partners, and typically gain pleasure from providing pleasure

Aurora Lesbian: an all-inclusive lesbian, similar to a Lykoi Lesbian, who supports the use of the lesbian label by anyone who feels they suit it; it also refers to the flag and how it's open to use by any lesbian

Longsword lesbian / LSL: an exclusionist lesbian group that typically believes non-binary, PNC, mspec, etc, lesbians have diminished the lesbian label
